Keeping in Touch.

Time To Keep It Simple: Keeping In Touch... Not Such A Simple Concept

Here’s hoping that all our members are safe and well and not going too crazy with this enforced lock down. I am curious to know how everyone is managing to cope and what you are all doing to pass the time. I am missing our U3A activities and the comradery which comes along with them.

I’m hoping that everyone is keeping in touch with one another even if it’s just the odd text message or perhaps with a message on WhatsApp. There is no need to stay isolated in this age of technology and there are many ways of keeping in touch with one another.

Many of you don’t use WhatsApp but I encourage you to install it on your phone, it’s free and can be found in the app store. Once you have installed it you can then scroll down your contacts and see how many of them are using it, you may be surprised. You can find all about WhatsApp here…

At this time perhaps it’s time to review our opinion about social media, I know that there are many of us who won’t entertain Facebook or Instagram but both are a great resource both for communication with friends and family and for discovering more about the things we are passionate about, every subject is covered and there are groups which cater for every hobby and interest, It’s fun to seek them out and see what other people are producing or working on and in turn perhaps inspire us to try to learn something new now that we have plenty of time to do so.

Our U3A now has a Facebook page thanks to Jan who set it up with a view to provide a space where any member can pop in and see what everyone is up to, you could post a picture of something you have made or share a photograph you have taken. There are lots of funnies on there too which some of our members have posted to cheer up your day.

To access the Facebook page you will have to be a member of Facebook, if you’re not a member it’s very easy to join, if you are worried about privacy issues you can adjust the privacy settings on your profile page to suit you.

Once you have joined make a friends request to me Linda Solaiman or Jan – Janice Leach and we can then invite you to the group. We need more people to take advantage of this excellent source of communication it’s a great way to keep in touch.

Hope to see you there very soon.
Best wishes
Linda S
