Successful Beach Clean Up

Thank you to the twelve members of the U3A who met this morning at the Crows Nest Roundabout to carry out a beach clean up.  We couldn’t have picked a better day to carry  out this work.  The sun was shining brightly, it was warm, not a cloud in the sky and no wind.

The council armed us up with high viz jackets, grabbers for picking up the rubbish and plenty of black sacks.

Off we set, eager to start the cleaning up.  The group split up and worked in different areas of the beach and promenade.  Soon the sacks were starting to fill and backs starting to ache!!

I think the overall reaction from all of us was the amount of rubbish discarded on the beach and promenade, especially when plenty of bins are provided are placed on the promenade  for the public to put their rubbish in.

I can honestly say we all enjoyed the morning, being out in the fresh air and feeling satisfied with our efforts.

I am going to arrange another beach clean up on anther part of the beach in the Spring time.   Watch this space !!!!!!
