Today’s meeting was informative as well as very entertaining. We were told about the group’s first Annual General Meeting which will be held on Wednesday 27th April, as usual, at Seaham Town Hall. The meeting will start with the chairman’s report and the treasurers report before the election of the new committee whose term will run from April 2016 until March 2017. The different positions on the committee were outlined to the members and proposal forms were available for any member who would like to apply for any of the positions. All applications need to be received before 30th March 2016. Following the formal reports there will also be a talk by John Yearnshire on Forensics which should be very interesting.
Then we had an excellent presentation from Sharon Vincent on the history of Hollywood Musicals. She spoke of musicals from 1927 when there was the introduction of sound after years of silent movies right through to 1960. The talk included clips of films with music – all of which were excellent and some very funny. There was something for everybody and I’m sure everyone really enjoyed it. Thank you for a wonderful, entertaining meeting. Next month we have either Judy Summerson or Harold Robson from ( FoRK) Friends of The Red Kites.
