The meeting held on Wednesday 30th September was great. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Norman Kirtlan was the speaker and gave a wonderful, funny and very entertaining presentation on Victorian customs and forensics. He told of how people behaved and their beliefs when death occurred with questions thrown in around sayings and rhythms of that era. A big thank you to Edna who has booked a full programme of interesting speakers with something for everyone.
We also had another 4 new members joining our group – taking the number of members ever closer to 100.
An announcement was made about the possibility of Seaham & District U3A joining with Seaham Harbour U3A Link and Learn group who are planning a visit to a German U3A group in Seaham’s twin town of Gerligen in September 2016. Hopefully, Sandra Wilkinson from Seaham Harbour U3A will come along to our next meeting on 28th October to give more details. It sounds really exciting and a good opportunity for the 2 groups to join in a shared venture.
There has been a lot of interest in our Christmas lunch which is to be held at 1.30pm at Seaham Golf Club on Wednesday 16th December (straight after our December meeting) so places are very limited. If you want to attend and haven’t yet submitted your details please contact Edna before the next meeting to guarantee your place. Her email address is:
