1. Northern Quiz

We have decided to have another quiz on March 4th, 2026 It will be in the same venue of Sunniside Club, Sunniside Road, NE16 5NA.

The Quiz will have 3 rounds: General Knowledge, Picture and Music. There will be Prizes and we would also like each u3a to bring a home-baked cake or Savoury to share, if possible. Any u3a can send as many teams of four (or less) as they wish, but no spectators or supporters as we would like them to also form teams and join in.

2. Redhills – Durham Miners Hall Visits

14th April 2026.

Another chance to attend a guided tour of Durham Miners Association, known as Redhills Durham Miners Hall.

3. Messenger

Please send us some feedback.

The original Messenger was a paper publication issued quarterly. It was never possible to give a copy to every member of all u3as in the region, due mainly to cost. We started to publish electronically and to distribute issues via email and via the website.

When issuing quarterly, there was always a problem that advertising events in this way meant that the event might have already occurred before the issue was distributed. Moreover, reports about events might be over 3 months old before they were received.

We started to use the Messenger page of the website so that information would be available immediately. But this change has resulted in information from individuals and u3as almost drying up.

Therefore, we need to know:

a) Do u3a members in the region still want “Messenger” type information?
b) If the answer is yes, how can we best achieve this?
