Another fantastic Knicky Knack Knitters display is now ready to view!
This time, the knitters — with help from the Crochet Group — have created hundreds of handmade poppies to form a stunning poppy gown, now proudly on display in the Shaw Trust Charity Shop, Byron Place.
The display features a mannequin wearing the poppy dress, standing in a field of poppies in the shop window. Inside, wreaths and pompoms beautifully decorate the walls.
There’s also a fun “Guess How Many Poppies?” jar inside the shop — just £1 per guess!
The purpose of this display is threefold:
1. Remembrance: It represents all those who lost their lives on active service from the First World War to the present day, as well as honouring the vital roles of civilian and uniformed services and remembering innocent civilians affected by conflict and terrorism.
2. Support: It aims to attract visitors to the Shaw Trust shop and help raise valuable funds for their charity. The staff have warmly thanked the knitters for their beautiful contribution and hope it will bring in lots of customers.
3. Awareness: It helps to raise awareness of our u3a and the u3a movement. Leaflets have been left in the shop for anyone interested in finding out more.
A huge well done to everyone involved 👏
