Garden Outings Group – Final Trip of the Year
Our final garden outing of the year took us to the wonderful Castle Howard. Although the rain followed us for much of the day, it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits.
There were plenty of welcoming spots to enjoy coffee or a bite to eat, and the house itself was a real highlight. The recently restored Tapestry Room looked stunning and gave us all plenty to admire. The friendly train driver drove us around to the house where we could view the stunning scenery on the way and then down to the beautiful lake, although none of use were tempted to take a boat ride in the rain.
The walled garden was still full of colour and beauty despite the lateness of the season, and the garden centre proved to be well stocked and worth a visit before heading home.
A memorable end to our outings for the year – helped along, of course, by good company and plenty of laughter.
The Group will now close for the Autumn and winter and will be meet on Wednesday 4th February when we will decide on our 2026 program.
