Railway 200 is a nationwide celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway on 27 September 1825.

Throughout 2025, Network Rail—together with many other rail industry partners—will be honouring rail’s remarkable past, recognising its importance today, and looking ahead to an exciting future.
