Both the Crochet and Sewing groups were visited recently by Sharon Smith from the charity Rise Above Cancer who work under the banner of Macmillan and provide help and support for cancer victims at Sunderland and South Tyneside hospitals.
Sharon thanked the members for their donations of handmade items which help to raise funds, the proceeds of which go directly to where they are needed, to enable victims of cancer to cope with their diagnosis and treatment.
All of our u3a crafting groups Crochet, Knicky Knack Knitters and Sewing, share their passion for crafting while also giving back by supporting local charities. This not only provides much needed help but also fosters a sense of purpose and community amongst u3a members, highlighting the power of creativity and generosity in making a difference.

We thank all of the members that have been generous enough to gift yarn, fabric and other craft items. The need is ongoing and donations of the above can be left at the Crochet information board at any of the monthly meetings.
All of our lovely craft groups are always looking for new members, why don’t you come along and sample one of our sessions, there’s lots of chat, laughter and putting the world to rights, sometimes we even get some work done too.
Check the diary for the next meeting dates.
